Workshop Implementation: Setup & Strategies
"Creating a Teaching Philosophy" Powerpoint Presentation
"Writing To Speak" Powerpoint Presentation
P.O.D. Presentation: Notes & Bibliography

These are links to a template I use to put together workshops for those interested in developing or improving their teaching philosophy statements. I have also included a link to a set of notes I use for prompting workshop discussion. Within those notes I have described what I think are some important concerns for setting up and facilitating the workshop. Please use the notes as an aid to help you to your own understanding of my approach to this process. I have provided the entire template Power Point file, complete with other side notes for those interested in seeing one way I have guided it.

This template serves only as a starting point. Readers will quickly find many other ways to alter it to suit different contexts and audiences. There are ample opportunities to inject more writing steps, discussion time, reflection, and assessment of the experience. I firmly believe that the process of writing, thinking and talking about teaching philosophies can be as meaningful as the written result although increasingly, job applicants and faculty seeking tenure are being asked to produce such statements. Please take, adapt, or change anything in this approach to suit your needs. I welcome your comments and of course, any stories you'd like to share about the experiences you have helping others to their greater understandings of whom they are and why they do what they do as teachers.

Warmest Regards,
